¿Qué hay de comer en un restaurante mexicano? What is there to eat in a Mexican restaurant?

Students will use the new vocabulary to order food from a Mexican menu while eating at a Mexican restaurant.  Students will write the following vocabulary on flashcards so that they can practice ordering the Mexican food with a classmate.  The students will write these questions on flashcards: Flashcard number 1-Que le gustaria ordenar? What would you like to order?  Flashcard number 2: Me gustaria ordenar… Students will then make flashcards for the following food Mexican food items.  The student will write the word on one side and an illustration of the menu item of the other side.  Here are the food items: https://quizlet.com/124331464/comida-mexicana-mexican-foods-flash-cards/

 

Continue to review the Community vocabualary

Students will continue to identify the places in the community.  They will make flashcards for the following words: la escuela-school, la comisaría-police station, la estación de bomberos-fire station, el hospital-hospital, el club social-community center, el supermercado-grocery store, el banco-bank, el mercado-fruit and veggie store, la gasolina-gas station, la heladería-ice cream parlor, la tienda de ropa-clothing store, el restaurante-restaurant and la peluqueria-hair salon. Students will make illustrations on one side of the flashcards and the Spanish and English on the backside. Students will be assessed over these words next week. Workers in the Community

Students will design a book (a picture for each worker and label the page in Spanish, for example, ice cream parlor worker in Spanish (el heladero-ice cream worker) for the following community workers: el heladero-ice cream employee, el dependiente del supermercado-grocery employee, el bombero/a fire fighter, el/la policia-police officer,  el banquero-banker, el monitor/la monitora-community center employee, el maestro/la maestra-teacher, el mesero-la mesera-waiter.

Conociendo mi comunidad (Knowing what’s in my community)

The first half of the year is over. We have just 20 more weeks in this school year.  This week we will begin to discuss the vocabulary related to the places in our community.  Here are  the new words for our new unit: la escuela-school, la comisaría-police station, la estación de bomberos-fire station, el hospital-hospital, el club social-community center, el supermercado-grocery store, el banco-bank, el mercado-fruit and veggie store, la gasolina-gas station, la heladería-ice cream parlor, la tienda de ropa-clothing store, el restaurante-restaurant and la peluqueria-hair salon.  Students will design a community using these new words.
