Students used a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast Cesar Chavez and Dr. King Jr. Cesar Chavez Mexican-American Born in Arizona Fought for Migrant Farm worker’s rights Responsible for grapes and lettuce boycotts Holiday is on March 31 Dr. King Jr. African-American Born in Georgia Fought for people’s civil rights Responsible for bus boycott Holiday is celebrated on Jan. 15 Students will be assessed over the Venn diagram next Tuesday, June 5.

Students will make piñatas this week. We will hang the piñatas in the auditorium for our World Language and Music Assembly this Friday at 1:30. We would like to see you there! Gracias!

Students will be partipating in a Spanish pilot assessment this week. Students took a practice test last week. This Spanish assessment is composed of 4 components, reading and writing and listenting and speaking. We will also continue to present the Animal habitats in class.

Students will be assessed over the following neighbood words this week: la panaderia-bakery, la heladeria-ice cream palor, la comisaria-police station, la estacion de bomberos-fire station, la casa-house, el apartamento-apartment, el parque-park, el supermercado-supermarket, la carniceria-butcher shop, el restaurante-restaurant,

Students will be assessed over the following expressions this week: Tengo hambre-I am hungry, Tengo sed-I am thirsty, Tengo calor-I am hot, Tengo frio-I am cold, Tengo prisa-I am in a hurry, Tengo sueno-I am sleepy, Tengo suerte-I am lucky, Tengo dolor-I am hurt, Tengo miedo-I am afraid.

Students will discuss the names of food items in Spanish. The following words for this week are: pollo-chicken, uvas-grapes, naranja-orange, manzana-apple, durazno-peach, pera-pear, huevo-egg and platano-banana.

Students will add and subtract 2 digit numbers, review colors and animals. We will also continue to discuss the Mexican flag.

Students will compare Martin Luther King Jr. to Cesar Chavez using a Venn diagram. Students will be assessed over the following words at the end of the week: hombre-man, mujer-woman, grande-big, pequeno-small, dentro-inside, fuera-outside, long-largo, corto-short, vacio-empty, lleno-full, light-claro, dark-oscuro.

Students will continue to discuss the family members. We will begin a new unit this week on what can be found in a community. Students will be tested of the following: la casa- house, la tienda-store, el restaurante-restaurant, el hospital-hospital, la farmacia-pharmacy, el parque-park, la estacion de bomberos, la comisaria-police station, la fruteria-fruit store, la carniceria-butcher shop.  

11 May

We will continue to present our animal habitats to the class. Our students have done a great job so far presenting animal habitats from all parts of the Spanish speaking world. On Tuesday of next week, our students will begin practicing for a Spanish Pilot Assessment. There are 4 components to the assessment, reading, writing, listening and speaking. Students will complete the assessment on a computer in the Language lab.
