Students will dicuss Today’s word as well as have conversation pertinent to Today’s word. We will continue to look at Animal habitats. Please remember to have your child work on his/her animal habitat project that is due very soon. Students will also begin a new unit on food. Students should make flashcards for these words. Here are the words for the new unit: Vamos a comer-Let’s eat, la comida-food, pan-bread, mantequilla-butter, bocadillo-sandwich, jamon-ham, pavo-turkey, pollo-chicken, helado-ice cream, fruta-fruit, verduras-vegetables.

Students will focus on comparing the United States to Mexico. Here are the words for this week’s assessment: bandera-flag, aguila-eagle, estrellas-stars, Estados Unidos-The United States, toro-bull, futbol-soccer. Students will also begin a new unit on the family. Here are the words for the family members: los padres-parents, el padre-father, la madre-mother, el hermano-brother, la hermana-sister, el tio-uncle, la tia-aunt, el primo (boy)-cousin, la prima (girl) cousin, el abuelo-grandfather, la abuela-grandmother.

Students will continue to learn the names of fruit and vegetables. We will focus this week on counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s in Spanish.

Students will make number sentences showing adding and subtracting in Spanish as well as learn the names of fruit. We will continue to sing songs pertinent to learning the numbers 20-30. Students will also review farm and zoo animals.

Students will review the unit on clothing. We will start a new unit this week on opposites. Please have your child make flashcards for the following words: pequeno (small)- grande (big), caliente (hot)- frio (cold), arriba (up) – abajo (down), dentro (inside)-fuera (outside), light (claro)- oscuro (dark), limpio (clean)-dirty (sucio), seco (dry)-mojado (wet). Students will continue to write Today’s Word in their agendas.

Students will begin the unit on clothing this week. Please have your child make flashcards for the following vocabulary: ropa-clothing, abrigo-coat, camiseta-t-shirt, camisa-shirt, pantalones-pants, calcetines-socks, zapatos-shoes. Students will be assessed over these words by week’s end.

Students will design books about food using the food pyramid as a guide. fruit-fruta, manzana-apple, naranja-orange, fresa-strawberry, sandia-watermelon, platano-banana, durazno-peach, melocoton-peach.

Students will add and subtract one and two digit numbers using a number line, review colors, review the names of animals and parts of the body.
