We will begin celebrating the Day of the Dead in class this week.

2nd and third grades will begin using their new Spanish workbooks starting on Monday, November 8, 2010.  The students will have homework 2 times during the week.  Please look for their Spanish workbooks on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

  Hispanic Heritage Month The World Language Department would like to thank the PTA for their donations this year to the World Language Program.  We would also like to thank Mrs. Jill Tarby for providing such a beautiful program for the Hispanic Heritage Month Assemblies.

Hispanic Heritage Assembly Tuesday, October 26th at 9:30 and 1:30. Ray School will celebrate its annual Hispanic Heritage Month Assemblies on Tuesday, October 26, 2010. Everyone is invited to attend this grand event. Our students will interpret dances from Spanish speaking countries as well as sing songs in Spanish. The Ray Café will also be open during both assemblies. They will sell hot chocolate and Mexican sweet bread. The first assembly is for 1st – 3rd grades at 9:30a.m. and the second assembly is for grades 4th – 6th grades at 1:30p.m. Parents may attend both assemblies....

Please continue to work on your Hispanic Heritage Month Sports Players Project. Students must submit this project on Tuesday, October 19, 2010.

Students are discussing the parts of a house. El techo-roof, la casa-house, la puerta-door, la ventana- window, el patio-patio, el jardin-garden, el garaje-garage, la chimenea-chimney . Students will be tested over this words on Monday, October 18, 2010. Please review this words with your children.

Students are composing a Spanish Activity Book. This book will consist of numbers, colors, useful Spanish frases and much more.

We are currently reviewing vocabulary from last year.  For example, class room objects, numbers, colors, greetings and other useful Spanish frases.

We are a making a Spanish activity book in class.  This book will include the numbers, colors, greetings and other useful frases in Spanish.

We have been practicing the numbers 1-10 using a number line.  For example,  I have asked students to tell me what is uno mas tres (1+3).  Many have answered cuatro using the picto/number graph in Spanish.  I will send these home with your child once he or she has finished making the number line in class.  This week will focus on colors in Spanish.
